Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department alum Cassandra Rose ’10, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s Playwriting program, presents Best of the Dictionary Project , a showcase of short plays written by Rose over the past five years, running November 30 through December 2 at Otherworld Theatre, located at 3914 N. Clark in Chicago’s Belmont Theatre District.

The production pulls together 60 short plays written by Rose over the past five years for The Dictionary Project, an annual self-produced project in which Rose penned scripts for hundreds of patrons. Each customer gave Rose a page number that corresponded to a page in Rose’s dictionary, and Rose wrote each play within a year of it being purchased. The plays were divided into three categories: one-page plays, three-page plays, and ten-minute plays.
For Best of the Dictionary Project, the performance schedule is:
Friday, November 30: 7 PM — all 60 plays
Saturday, December 1: noon — One-Page Plays only; 2 PM — Three-Page Plays only; 4 PM — Ten-Minute Plays only; 7 PM — all 60 plays.
Sunday, December 2: noon — One-Page Plays only; 2 PM — Three-Page Plays only; 4 PM — Ten-Minute Plays only.

The ensemble cast for the Ten-Minute Plays includes Columbia College alum Kim Fukawa ’07, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s BA Program in Acting. The ensemble cast for the One-Page Plays includes Columbia College alums Harrison Hapin ’14 and Matt Singleton ’14, both graduates of the Theatre Department’s Acting BA Program. The Three-Page Plays are directed by Columbia College Theatre Department faculty member Josh Sobel, and the ensemble cast for the Three-Page Plays includes Theatre Department student Kyla Norton.
