Douglass ’12, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s BA Program in Musical Theatre, who is the show’s sound designer and projection co-designer. A Taste of Soul is a musical tribute to a genre of music that has influenced popular culture worldwide. With songs from some of Soul’s greatest hit makers like Tina Turner, Patti LaBelle, Barry White, Lou Rawls, Al Green, Bobby Caldwell, Gladys Knight, Peaches & Herb, and Ashford & Simpson, it is a musical feast full of fun and laughter – with a little history for good measure.

Daryl Brooks

The production is written and directed by Daryl Brooks, producing managing director of Chicago’s Black Ensemble Theatre, who – as previously reported in this blog – directed the Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department‘s 2023 mainstage season production of Sunday in the Park with George.
