Counterfeit Combat, a theatre company co-founded by Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department alum Chloe Streif ’18, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s BA Program in Acting with a Minor in Stage Combat, presents And They Were Shipmates: A Queer Pirate Romance Adventure, described as “a gay pirate show full of fights and fun that you can’t miss!” The show runs August 18 through 27 at The Raven Room at Redline VR, 4702 N. Based on the story of infamous female pirates Anne Bonny and Mary Read, this raucous romantic comedy, described as an “occasionally true story based on historical facts,” promises to have audiences “laughing, sighing, and gasping, oh aye!”

Streif co-founded Counterfeit Combat in 2021 as “a company of professionally trained actors and stage combatants that foster a compassionate learning environment where students are encouraged to try new things and support each other as they grow in confidence and skill.”
