Columbia College Chicago Theatre and Music Alums Design May Productions at Invictus and First Floor Theatres

Alumni of the Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department‘s BA Program in Theatre Design and Technology are on the design teams for new productions in Chicago’s vibrant theatre scene this May 2023.

Kevin Rolfs

Columbia College alum Kevin Rolfs ’17, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s Theatre Design progam, is the set designer for Invictus Theatre Company’s new production of Arthur Miller’s classic drama The Crucible. As previously reported in this blog, Rolfs recently won a Joseph Jefferson Award – Chicago theatre’s top award – for his scenic design for Invictus’ 2022 production of Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?

Petter Wahlbäck

The Crucible‘s sound designer is Columbia College Chicago Music Department alum and faculty member Petter Wahlbäck ’00, MFA ’08, a graduate of the Music Department’s BA Program in Music Composition and MFA Program in Music Composition for the Screen. The Crucible runs May 11 through June 11 at Invictus’ intimate Reginald Vaughn Theatre, located at 1106 W. Thorndale in Chicago’s Edgewater Andersonville Theatre District. For tickets, click here.

Alumni of the Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department are also on the design team for the First Floor Theatre‘s Chicago premiere of Hatefuck, running May 5 through June 10 at the Den Theatre, located at 1331 N. Milwaukee in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood.

Columbia College alums Isaac-Jay Pineda ’19, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s BA Program in Theatre Design, and Benjamin Carne ’18, also a graduate of the Theatre Department’s Theatre Design Program, are the show’s costume designer and lighting designer respectively.
