Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department alum Cody Estle ’11, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s Theatre Directing program, directs The Garbologists, running September 1 through October 2 at Northlight Theatre, located at 9501 Skokie Boulevard in the Chicago suburb of Skokie. This offbeat buddy comedy pairs workers from two different worlds – a white, blue-collar mansplainer and a Black, college-educated woman – in the shared cab of a New York City garbage truck. As previously reported in this blog, Estle has been nominated for a 2022 Joseph Jefferson Award – Chicago’s top theatrical award – for his direction of The Luckiest at Chicago’s Raven Theatre, where Estle is artistic director. The Luckiest was also nominated for Production–Play–Midsize.
