Columbia College Chicago Theatre Dept. Alumni Bring World Premiere of ‘This Is Only a Test’ to the Stage Feb. 11-March 12

Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department alumni are in the cast and production team of the world premiere of This Is Only a Test, running February 11 through March 12 at the Den Theatre, located at 1331 N. Milwaukee in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood. The play is presented by Broken Nose Theatre, one of Chicago’s premier Pay-What-You-Can theatre companies. For tickets, click here. The drama, set in a high school where the faculty have decided to train their students how to fight back against armed intruders, asks the audience to consider the moment when preparing for the worst tips over into a whole new breed of violence all its own.

The show’s cast includes Columbia College alums RjW Mays ’06, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s BA Program in Acting, and Sophia Vitello ’19, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s BFA Program in Musical Theatre Performance, as well as former Theatre Department student Christopher M. Walsh. And Dance Center of Columbia College Chicago alum Kiefer Otto ’18, a graduate of the Dance Center’s BA Program in Dance, is an understudy.

Columbia College alum Rose Hamill ’16, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s BA Program in Theatre Technology, is the show’s production manager as well as being managing director of Broken Nose Theatre. Columbia College alum Conchita Avitia ’18, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s BA Program in Theatre Design, is the show’s lighting designer. Columbia College alum Jac Pytlik ’21, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s BA Program in Theatre, is the stage manager.
