Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department’s Getz Theatre Center Resumes LIVE PERFORMANCE April 14 with Two Productions

The Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department‘s Getz Theatre Center resumes LIVE IN-PERSON PERFORMANCE April 14-17 with two simultaneous productions (both performed with attention to safety and COVID awareness):

Tales of Berlin, a live, site-specific, immersive theatrical event, takes the audience on a journey through WWII Berlin – the music, the dance, and the stories that set the stage for the musical Cabaret, which will be presented in spring 2022. In this promenade performance, every audience member’s experience will be unique, as viewers move in small groups through the space while actors perform stories, songs, and musical numbers exploring themes of power, leadership and personal responsibility, then and now. Directed by Theatre Department chair Carin Silkaitis, the Mainstage Season production Tales of Berlin plays in the Courtyard Theatre of the Getz Theatre Center of Columbia College, located at 72 E. 11th St. in Chicago’s South Loop. The performance can also be accessed online. Performances are Wednesday-Friday, April 14-16, at 7:30 PM and 8:45 PM each night, and Saturday, April 17, with performances at 2 PM, 3:45 PM, 7:30 PM, and 8:45 PM. Orchards, a devised outdoor performance based on Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard, plays in The Garden outdoor performance space adjacent to the Getz Theatre Center at the corner of Wabash and 11th Street. Directed by Theatre Department associate chair Susan Padveen, the show plays Wednesday-Saturday, April 14-17, at 8 PM nightly. Performances are free, but advance reservations are required.
