Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department Alum Hosts Career Advice Event Nov. 5: ‘Don’t Be Terrified of Finding a Job in Entertainment’

Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department alum Madison Kennedy ’18, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s Theatre Directing program, will lead a virtual workshop for Columbia College students and alumni seeking work in the arts and entertainment field. Titled “Don’t Be Terrified of Finding a Job in Entertainment,” the Zoom event takes place Thursday, November 5, from 3:30 to 4:30 PM (CST). Kennedy is partnering with Crypt TV, a Los Angeles-based entertainment company that develops, produces, and distributes horror-themed digital content. Kennedy and the Crypt TV team will share how their varied paths and creative skill sets apply to the entertainment industry in the areas of development, production, content creation, marketing, and distribution. After graduating from Columbia’s Theatre Directing program in 2018, Kennedy relocated from Chicago to LA determined to pursue opportunities in entertainment, finding work as a production assistant, research assistant, and video editor and tapping into Columbia College’s extensive alumni network. Over the past year she has written, directed, and produced multiple short films, including Shattered, which recently won awards at the Prague International Film Festival and the Independent Shorts Awards International Film Festival.
