Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department alums are on the design team for the Promethean Theatre Ensemble’s Chicago premiere of the British play Blue Stockings, opening September 16 at the Den Theatre, 1331 N. Milwaukee, in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood.

The production’s design team includes Columbia College alums Therese Ritchie ’18, Claire Sangster ’12, and Devon Green ’18, all graduates of the Theatre Department’s BA Program in Theatre Design. Ritchie, Sangster, and Green are the show’s set, lighting, and props designers respectively.

The first full-length play by UK writer Jessica Swale, who went on to write the international hit Nell Gwynn, this 2013 work concerns four female undergraduates at Cambridge University in 1896 and their pathbreaking campaign to be allowed, like their male colleagues, to receive a formal degree qualification at the end of their studies.
