Alumni of the Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department are bringing the Babes With Blades Theatre Company‘s non-traditional production of Shakespeare’s Othello to the stage April 20 through May 25. The show runs at the Factory Theater, located at 1623 W. Howard in Chicago’s Rogers Park neighborhood. Columbia College alum Kathrynne Wolf ’96, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s BA Program in Acting, plays Iago, whose hatred of the Moorish general Othello drives the drama to its tragic conclusion. Columbia College alum Kim Fukawa ’07, also a graduate of the Theatre Department’s Acting BA program, plays Montano. Babes With Blades’ productions solely feature actors who identify as female, trans, and gender-nonconforming, providing the opportunity for audiences to perceive these classic stories through a new lens.
