The Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department concludes its 2018-2019 Mainstage Season with the musical Xanadu, running April 18 through 27 in the Courtyard Theater of the Getz Theater Center of Columbia College, located at 72 E. 11th in Chicago’s South Loop. For tickets, click here.
The show has a book by Douglas Carter Beane and music and lyrics by Jeff Lynne and John Farrar. Directed by guest artist Adam Goldstein, with choreography by faculty member Courtney Ring and music direction by faculty member Jermaine Hill, the production features an all-student cast and a design/production team consisting of students, faculty, and alumni guest artists.
The 2007 musical, based on the 1980 film of the same name, concerns a Greek goddess who travels to contemporary California, where she inspires a street artist to create a roller disco. The show includes extensive roller-skating sequences.
