We Are the Tigers is a dark comedy musical that both parodies and appreciates the angst of adolescence with a suspenseful, twist-filled mystery and infectious pop/rock score. It was first produced at the Hudson Theater in Los Angeles in October 2015 and received an Ovation Award for Best Score. As previously reported in this blog, the musical was performed in a concert reading at Joe’s Pub, the cabaret space in New York City’s Public Theatre, in August of 2018, with a cast that included Columbia College alum Paige Daigle ’15, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s BFA Program in Musical Theatre Performance.

According to the show’s official plot description: “A new school year means a new beginning for the Tigers, the worst-ranked high school cheerleading team in the state. First-time captain Riley is determined to rally the girls for a fresh start at the annual team sleepover, but the night takes a viciously bloody turn when three Tigers are found mysteriously murdered. Now a squad that can’t even stick a landing has to solve a murder if they want any hope of making it to regionals — or the morning.” Details of the upcoming off-Broadway production will be announced soon.
