Alumni of the Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department are in the cast and creative/production team of Les Innocents/The Innocents, a Halloween season thriller set in the mysterious catacombs of 19th-century Paris. This world premiere opens October 11 and runs through November 4 at the Preston Bradley Center, 941 W. Lawrence, in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood. In this immersive production by the (re)discover theatre, inspired by a real concert that took place in the Paris Catacombs in 1897, the audience prowls the space like ghosts. The story’s focus is on Gui, a composer on a quest for love, and their encounter with eccentric and musical ghosts who misdirect their pursuit and inspire chaos for the living and dead.
Gui is played by Columbia College alum Emilie Modaff ’14, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s BA Program in Acting. The show’s environment/scenic designer is Columbia College alum Chas Z. Mathieu ’17, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s Theatre Design BA program, and alum Kate Hardiman ’13, a graduate of Columbia College’s Theatre Directing program, is the lighting designer.
