Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department alumna Joanie Schultz ’00, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s Theatre Directing program, was honored by the 2017-2018 Dallas-Fort Worth Theatre Critics Awards, which were announced September 11. As reported previously in this blog, Schultz became artistic director of the WaterTower Theatre in Addison, Texas, in January 2017. In her first full season as artistic director, reports Dallas News theatre critic Nancy Churnin, WaterTower Theatre racked up 11 honors, with Schultz herself cited for Outstanding Direction for WaterTower’s acclaimed production of Hand to God. Schultz’s next project at WaterTower is her own new adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s classic drama A Doll’s House, running October 12 through November 4.
