Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department alumnus Michael Kurowski ’16, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s BFA Program in Musical Theatre Performance, is in the musical Once, running April 25 through June 3 at the Paramount Theatre in Aurora, Illinois. This production is the first Chicago-area regional staging of the Tony Award-winning musical, which chronicles the romance between an Irish musician and one of his fans. Kurowski is in the show’s ensemble and understudies several supporting roles. Since the show requires its cast to also play instruments, Kurowski plays play guitar, mandolin, banjo, ukulele, electric bass, cajon, melodica, piano, and drums, in addition to singing and acting. Kurowski is also the show’s music captain. As reported previously in this blog, Kurowski was previously in the national touring company of Once.
The show is directed by Paramount Theatre’s artistic director Jim Corti, a veteran of Broadway musicals and a former teacher of Musical Theatre Dance in the Musical Theatre Program at Columbia College Chicago.
The Paramount Theatre is located at 23 E. Galena Blvd. in downtown Aurora, a western suburb of Chicago. For tickets, call 630-896-6666 or click here.
