Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department alumni, students, and faculty members are in the cast and creative team for the musical Memphis, presented April 19-June 3 by Porchlight Music Theatre. The show’s cast includes Columbia College alumni Shantel Cribbs ‘17 and Mallory Maedke ’14, both graduates of the Columbia College Theatre Department’s BFA Program in Musical Theatre Performance, and Jared David Michael Grant ’12 and Koray Tarhan ’13, both graduates of the Theatre Department’s BA Program in Musical Theatre. Also in the cast are Isaiah Silvia-Chandley, Aalon Smith, and Marvin J. Malone II, all students in the Musical Theatre Performance BFA program. Theatre Department faculty member Jermaine Hill is the show’s musical director, and faculty members Jacqueline Penrod and Richard Penrod are the scenic designers. Inspired by actual events, Memphis is the story of a white radio DJ who wants to change the world and a black club singer who is ready for her big break.
