Otherworld Theatre Company, an ensemble founded and led by Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department alumni, presents its third annual Paragon science-fiction/fantasy play festival November 11 and 12 at the Public House Theater, 3914 N. Clark, in Chicago.
Otherworld Theatre Company was founded in June 2012 by Columbia College alum Tiffany Keane Schaefer ’12, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s Theatre Directing Program, with a mission to bring a theatrical experience to the science fiction and fantasy genre. Besides Schaefer, Columbia College Theatre alums directing plays in this year’s festival include Grace Gimpel ’12, a graduate of Columbia’s BA Program in Musical Theatre, and Arianna Soloway ’13, a graduate of Columbia College Chicago’s BFA Program in Theatre Directing, as well as former Theatre Department Acting Program student Bennett Bottero. And Theatre Department faculty member Joe Janes is among the festival’s contributing writers.
Paragon is the world’s largest festival devoted to science fiction and fantasy theatre, featuring 40 plays performed over two days. Collaborating with hundreds of theatre artists locally and internationally to increase exposure for an underserved theatre genre, Paragon has become a unique part of Chicago’s diverse cultural landscape.
Performances run all day on Saturday and Sunday, November 11 (11 AM-5:30 PM) and 12 (11 AM-10 PM). Single-play, single-day, and weekend passes are available. Tickets may be purchased at the door or click here.
