Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department Alum Directs ‘Fairytale Lives of Russian Girls,’ Opening at Trap Door Theatre Oct. 15

Nicole Wiesner (BA ’00), a graduate of the Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department‘s BA Program in Acting, is directing The Fairytale Lives of Russian Girls, running October 15-November 21 at Trap Door Theatre, located at 1655 W. Cortland in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood. This play by Meg Miroshnik concerns a girl sent to Russia to be immersed into her native language and culture, who finds herself thrust into an enchanting post-Soviet world filled with new friends still fighting the witches, bears, and evil stepmothers that haunted all of our childhoods.

A Trap Door Theatre member since 1999, Wiesner is well known as an actor and director in Chicago. Her acting credits include First Ladies at Trap Door, for which she won a Joseph Jefferson Award as Actress in a Principal Role, as well as shows at Goodman, Steppenwolf, Court, and Lookingglass theatres.
