American Blues Theater‘s production of the classic comedy The Rainmaker, the opening show in its 30th anniversary season, features two Columbia College Chicago alumni, Steve Key (BA ’88) and Matt Pratt (BA ’12). Key, a four-time winner of the Joseph Jefferson Award, studied in Columbia’s Art + Design program. Pratt is a graduate of the Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department‘s BA Program in Acting.

The Rainmaker runs August 28-September 27 at the Greenhouse Theater Center, 2257 N. Lincoln. A special College Night performance and pre-show pizza party on Thursday, September 10, offers $10 admission to college students with valid ID. (Non-student tickets for this performance are $29.) In addition, there is a $10 student discount off regular ticket prices ($19-$39) for all other performances during the run.

In this revival of N. Richard Nash’s 1954 Broadway hit, Key plays the title role–a traveling con man who promises to bring rain to a drought-parched Texas farm. Pratt plays the farm family’s youngest son.
