Alumni and students from the Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department, Music Department, and Dance Department are involved in the Underscore Theatre Company‘s second annual Chicago Musical Theatre Festival, running June 30-July 19 at the Den Theatre, 1333 N. Milwaukee, in Chicago’s Wicker Park community. The festival features 13 world-premiere musicals by local artists, selected from 45 submissions.

Columbia College Chicago School of Fine and Performing Arts alumni and students are involved as performers, writers, or directors with the following festival selections:

American Smoothie — co-author Nick Jester is an alumnus;

Dirty Girl, presented by the New American Folk Theatre — cast includes alumni Coco Kasperowicz and Shyra Perkins;

Fanatical, presented by American Demigods — cast includes alumna Annie Passinisi;

Marble, GA, presented by the Duplicity Ensemble — cast includes alumnus Kegan Witzki;

Nine Lives — directed by alumnus Tyler Christie; cast includes alumni Jared Grant, Nicole Nola, and Allie Jae and student David Stobbe;

prOne, presented by Underscore Theatre Company — directed by alumnus Jon Martinez; cast includes alumni Andrea Wright, David Davis, and Joseph Kuchey, who is also associate choreographer;

Slide (Part One) — cast includes alumnus Conor Clark.
