Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department alumnus Cavan Hallman has a new show opening April 10. Called On the Air: A Live Radio Broadcast Musical, it’s a “jukebox musical” set to hits of the World War II era by such artists as Louis Jordan, the Mills Brothers, and Nat King Cole. On the Air runs through May 31 at the National WWII Museum’s Stage Door Canteen in New Orleans. For more information and tickets, click here or call 504-528-1943.

The show is choreographed by Columbia College Chicago Dance Department alumna Heidi Malnar (BA, Dance, 2006). Callman and Malnar first worked together at Columbia when she was in a Theatre Department freshman performance project that Hallman wrote.

Hallman, who graduated from Columbia College Chicago in 2005 with a BA in Playwriting, is now pursuing an MFA in Playwriting at the University of New Orleans. Malnar is now the artistic director of Gulf Coast Theatre on Tap, New Orleans’ premier jazz and rhythm tap dance company.
