Columbia Alumni Make a ‘Wonderful Town’

Columbia College Theatre Department alumnus Jon Martinez, assisted by fellow alumnus Joseph Kuchey, choreographed the dances for Bailiwick Chicago’s “Chicago Casting Audition Production” of the classic musical comedy Wonderful Town, running February 23-28 at Stage 773, 1225 W. Belmont, Chicago. This production of the 1953 hit (written by Leonard Bernstein, Betty Comden, Adolph Green, Joseph Fields, and Jerome Chodorov) features  cast of Bailiwick supporters who won their roles in a casting auction held November 8 at Michelle’s Ballroom. The event raised more than $50,000 for Bailiwick Chicago. The large cast also includes students from Franklin Fine Arts Center, British School of Chicago, and other CPS schools. Jon Martinez is also Bailiwick Chicago’s administrative coordinator. Martinez and Kuchey met as students in the Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department’s Musical Theatre Program.
