3D Printing in the Library

The Library recently acquired its first 3D printer!

We have one Ultimaker 2 which is now available to Columbia College students, faculty, and staff to print personal or academic projects.

To use the printer, please complete the request form or join us for a Photogrammetry and 3D Printing Workshop on Wednesday, February 24th from 5:30-6:30pm on the 2nd Floor of the Library.

Our current guidelines for 3D printing requests include:

  • Those who have not previously used the 3D printer will be instructed by Library staff before they can begin a 3D print.
  • Those who use the 3D printer need to monitor their print for its entire duration. Library staff will assist you with setting up the print and will be available if there are any problems during printing, but you will need to remain in the Library and within sight of the printer until printing is complete.
  • 3D printing is currently available free of charge.
  • We will do our best to honor all requests for 3D printing as staff and printer availability allows. Prints that are estimated to take more than 3 hours are not available at this time.
  • Please allow at least 48 hours for us to process your request.
  • Filament colors available: green, dark blue, silver, red, and white.
  • All procedures/guidelines are subject to change.
