Tonight, 7 Stories, a recurring evening of storytelling in Pilsen, will take place at at Martin’s Corner with lighting design by second-year media student Lilli Kayes, and be accompanied by the live band “The Steins.” The 7 Stories event started in June in 2013 as a scripted reading series, with seven works acted out on stage with group members taking different roles. Columbia College 2014 BFA in Fiction Writing alumni DJ Howard and Emily Roth are founding members, with Kayes adding lighting for this event.
7 stories occurs bi-monthly and includes an audience participation intermission, where attendees will have three minutes per person of open mic to tell their own stories (and win free beer)! Also, attendees may donate $5 for a “swag pass” and take home their choice of used DVDs and books. 7 Stories plans on growing to incorporate other types of story telling, and the group’s members are looking for new artists, including storytellers, musicians, and dancers, to join.
