This fall, Interdisciplinary Arts & Media Associate Chair Paul Catanese was invited to join the Community Practices Advisory Committee at CAA –  an ad-hoc advisory body assembled to provide input on the multi-year CAA Fair Use Initiative that is examining issues related to practices surrounding Fair Use. Coinciding with the 2014 conference, CAA published the findings of the first phase of this initiative in an issues report: Copyright, Permissions and Fair Use among Visual Artists and the Academic and Museum Visual Arts Communities: An Issues Report, which was co-authored by Peter Jaszi & Patricia Aufderheide.

In conjunction with the release of this report, Catanese was invited to speak on the Committee for Intellectual Property Rights Panel during CAA 2014, chaired by Christine Sundt alongside CAA President Anne Collins Goodyear, Jeffrey Cunard, and the issues report authors Jaszi & Aufderheide. This panel was video-taped, and CAA has published it on their YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MS3piujxyWs
