MA Students Take Chicago With Readings and Site-Specific Performance

Chicago-Skyline

The Interdisciplinary Arts MA students are preparing for taking performance on the town!

Sherry Antonini’s Word class students are reading original texts at the Green Mill this Sunday, March 9 at 6:00 p.m. Sundays at the Green Mill are typically poetry slams, so it will be interesting to see the entire class intervene in an out-of-the-classroom context.

Jenny Magnus’ Drama class will be putting on site-specific performances around the South Loop on both Monday March 10 and Wednesday March 12 at 6:30 p.m, rain or shine!  Docents will lead the audience site to site to see a string of performances in a very unique way. An example from past years of this event would be Justin Botz’s performance of eating food in an alleyway of an expensive South Loop restaurant in a tux in the pouring down rain! This is a way to see theater outside the black box, thinking of performance in a more place-oriented format. So exciting.  Both nights will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Raw Space  (2nd Floor of 1104 S. Wabash) and should last until 9:30 p.m., with discussion afterward. Please dress appropriately  (bring an umbrella/shoes or boots for snow) for the day, as the audience will be trekking through parks and all over the South Loop no matter how much snow is on the ground.

Both events are free  and open to the public!
