IMAGe Unit, a group comprised of Interdisciplinary Arts & Media students, met on Friday, September 20 and is full of news and general plotting for an action-packed semester ahead.
In the coming days, headlined by crit week, there is an upcoming Salon (on Thursday – location and time TBA), Kellen and Davina are performing this weekend at the Jackalope Theater, and the deadline for the sign up for studio visits by Chrysanne Stathacos is September 25.
Meanwhile, longer term projects include a collaborative exhibition with the creative writing department in the C33 Gallery Space during the CAA conference in February – Megan Pitcher (email@example.com) is now the lead contact. Furthermore, the 2nd Floor 916 Wabash gathering space will be renovated, and Image Unit is taking the lead on proposals to redesign the space.
Other discussion centered on facilitating more interaction among the first, second, and third year MFAs, as well as the MA students. A karaoke night is in the works, and other thoughts included having an open studio night where all would know to go to their studios and find a friendly and informal environment for meeting other students they may not see on a regular basis.
IMAGe Unit meetings are bi-weekly, and also meets regularly with the P.I.T. group, the official Interdisciplinary Book and Paper Arts organization.
