Work produced during the residency will be exhibited at the University Galleries. This Residency will be offered on an annual basis starting in Spring 2013.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The WPU Artist in Residency Program provides access to our unique facility for the production of sculpture, installation, performance, 2D and 3D imaging, interactive media, augmented reality and others. Novel, innovative use of the facility is encouraged and theoretical conceptual projects welcome. This residency is designed to take advantage of our facility and the Lab at the Center for Computer Art and Animation. The Lab includes a Computer Numerical Control Mill, 2 rapid prototyping machines, a 3D Scanner, and a full digital computer lab with multiple softwares and 2D printers available. This residency is directed to a self-starting digital savant who can adopt and adapt to the available technologies. Limited production support is available (carried out by graduate assistants or undergraduate student interns). Work produced during the residency will be exhibited in a solo exhibition at the University Galleries.
AWARD
The winning resident will be in residence over a 6-week period in the spring semester of 2013 (March – April or April – May). The recipient will lecture during this period to the Department of Art community as well as occasionally making themselves available to the undergraduate and graduate community through ad hoc symposia and colloquia. The selected artist will exhibit the resulting work in the East Gallery at the University Galleries in the fall semester of 2013 (September – October or November – December). [The East Gallery is approximately 400 square feet and 60 linear feet.] It is also possible to develop projects for outdoor sites at the Power Art Building.

The selection will be made based on the merit of past work and artistic promise, the artist’s preparedness to independently develop new work, and the artist’s potential to contribute to the William Paterson University community and beyond
