2011 MFA Media Alumnus Nicholas Sagan was recently awarded a spot in the 2012-2013 Chicago Artists Coalition HATCH Projects Residency Program.
HATCH Projects is a yearlong, juried incubator for contemporary Chicago artists and curators supporting an ecology of curatorial and artistic practice. An initiative of Chicago Artists’ Coalition (CAC), HATCH Projects fosters shared experimentation, exchange, and creativity with the aim to produce ground-breaking exhibitions and programs.
Through interdisciplinary, new media and traditional art-making processes, Sagan’s work explores the connections, parallels and paradoxes that exist between art and science. His more recent experiments deal specifically with installation and performance as mediums through which scientific imagery and data archives can be accessed and interpreted.
