CANAL BOAT RESIDENCY OPEN CALL

In 2011 AND worked in partnership with the British Waterways and The Waterways Trust to pilot an artists residency programme on the Canals of the Northwest of England. Due to its success we will be offering another unique opportunity for an artist to be in residence on a canal boat on and around the Manchester and Pennine waterways in summer 2012.

RESIDENCY DETAILS

This residency will be based on a Canal Boat on the Manchester and Pennine Waterways, Northwest England for approximately four weeks in August and September 2012. Accommodation will be provided on a canal boat for four weeks, full training on boat handling and maintenance will be provided at the beginning of the residency. A route will be mapped out in collaboration with the resident artists and partner organisations.

The handling of a canal boat requires two people, therefore the residency is open to a minimum of two people. There may be a possibility to provide accommodation for more participants, so the residency encourages applications from collaborating artists, collectives and families (fees and stipend remain the same).

The following budget is available to the resident artist (to be managed by AND):

• An artists’ fee and stipend of £1500 GBP (to include any materials and/or production and living costs)

• Travel expenses to the UK of up to £1000 GBP
