InterArts Alumna at San Antonio’s Sixth Luminaria Festival

Luminaria is San Antonio’s annual night celebration of art and artists. This free 12-hour event brings contemporary art to the masses in public spaces, making contemporary art accessible to large audiences. The organizers aim to both inspire dialogue and engage the public, encouraging the people of San Antonio to see the significance of contemporary artistic forms, and their impact on public spaces.

This year they celebrate their sixth anniversary, and InterArts alumna Michelle Graves is there to join in the party. She is installing her work Transgression Through Your Breath, which connects breath with existentialism, philosophy, and autonomic functions. Graves works the text in a grafitti style, writing her theories of the communal experience of breath and mortality on the gallery walls.
