Columbia College Chicago School of Theatre and Dance faculty member Daryl Brooks is the author and director of the Black Ensemble Theatre‘s 2024-25 winter holiday production Hitt Records, running December 21, 2024 through January 26, 2025, at the Black Ensemble Theatre Cultural Center, located at 4450 N. This revue of Black musical hits features songs by Curtis Mayfield, Phil Collins, Shalamar, Sister Sledge, Bob Marley, and many more.

The show’s projections designer is Columbia College alum D.J. Douglass ’12, a graduate of the Theatre Program’s BA Program in Musical Theatre.

Brooks, who is Black Ensemble Theatre’s Producing Managing Director, will direct the Columbia College Chicago School of Theatre and Dance’s Mainstage Season production of the rock musical Rent next year. Rent runs May 1 through 10, 2025, at the Getz Theatre Center of Columbia College, located at 72 E. 11th St. in Chicago’s South Loop.
