Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department alum Alison Halstead ’88, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s BA Program in Theatre, has made her feature-film acting debut in the hit movie Dune: Part Two, which was released March 1, 2024.
Halstead, who describes herself as “a British-born, American-raised, professionally-trained performer, . . . actor, voiceover and deeply-embodied acrobat,” plays the role of Maker Keeper, a woman who works with baby sandworms and gets the Water of Life from them, in Dune: Part Two.
Halstead has had a steady career as a stage actor in the U.S. and Great Britain. In Chicago theatre, her credits include roles at Goodman Theatre (where she played the Ghost of Christmas Past in the theatre’s popular holiday offering A Christmas Carol), Steppenwolf, and Chicago Shakespeare Theatre.
In the UK she has appeared in productions by the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre of Great Britain as well as the Mimbre acrobatic theatre company, with which she is an associate performer. In addition to stage work, she has credits as a voiceover artist for the video games Cyberpunk and Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty and as an actor on the Amazon Prime TV series Citadel.
