Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department alums, students, and faculty are in the cast and creative team of the U.S. premiere of the experimental and innovative new British musical London Road, presented by Chicago’s Shattered Globe Theatre. The show runs April 22 through June 3 at Theatre Wit, located at 1229 W. Belmont in Chicago’s Belmont Theatre District. For tickets, click here.
The show’s cast includes Columbia College Theatre Department students Alani Gross-Roberts and Kendal Wilson. Understudies include Columbia College alums Eilish Morse-O’Rourke ’22 and Joselle Reyes ’21, both graduates of the Theatre Department’s BFA Program in Musical Theatre Performance, and Theatre Department students RileyGrace Abbott and Sean Sturdivant.
The show’s music director is Theatre Department faculty member Andra Velis Simon. Columbia College alum Shayna Patel ’22, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s BA Program in Theatre Design and Technology, is the show’s props designer and scenic charge.
Based on a true story, the show concerns the immense fear and media circus that unfolds in a small English town following the serial murder of five sex workers. Brought to the American stage for the first time ever, London Road is an uplifting story that reveals how a devastating tragedy can spark empathy and engender community resilience.
