Former Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department student MJ Rawls is featured in the world premiere of It’s Just Like Coming to Church (Welcome to the Church of YOU), the new musical written and directed by Jackie Taylor at the Black Ensemble Theatre, located at 4450 N. Clark in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood. The joyous and uplifting show – the opening production in BET’s 2022 Season of Excellence: The Season of Healings – runs March 12 through April 24. Robert Reddrick
Rawls is a member of the Choir of the Griots in the show, which features music of many different genres including gospel, spiritual, soul, jazz, hip-hop, and blues. Former Columbia College Chicago Music Department student Robert Reddrick is the show’s musical director and drummer.
