Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department faculty and alumni are on the creative/production team of Saturn Returns, the new prime-time production by the Neo-Futurists, one of Chicago’s leading experimental theatres. Admission to the show’s final preview on Saturday, October 15, at 7:30 PM is “Pay What You Can”! Created and performed by former Theatre Department student Tif Harrison and directed by Theatre Department faculty member Jen Ellison, the show is described as “a Neo-Futuristic exploration that asks larger existential questions about time, patience, and the vast expanse of an unknowable universe. Tif Harrison and ensemble look upward and outward, offering observations on the silence and solitude of space, on the uncrossable distances between celestial bodies and the intimacy of standing next to somebody you love. Saturn Returns examines both the astronomical and astrological implications of Saturn’s solar orbit—a 29-year journey—to observe various dramatic changes that have manifested in the lives of the individuals on stage.”

The show’s design team includes several Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department alumni. Lighting designer Claire Chrzan ’11 and projections designer Smooch Medina ’13 are graduates of Columbia’s Theatre Design program; sound designer Spencer Meeks ’15 is a graduate of Columbia’s Musical Theatre BA program; and production manager Kate Hardiman ’13 is a graduate of Columbia’s Theatre Directing program.
