The Columbia College Chicago School of Theatre and Dance proudly congratulates Columbia College Chicago Theatre alum Tyler Anthony Smith ’17, a graduate of the Theatre Program’s BA Program in Acting, who won a 2024 Joseph Jefferson Award, Chicago’s top theatre award, at the Non-Equity “Jeff Awards” ceremony on Monday, March 24, 2025.
Smith won in the category of Performer in a Principal Role – Musical for their lead performance in Haven Chicago’s production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch at the Den Theatre.
In addition, former Columbia College Theatre Program faculty member and costume shop manager Patti Roeder won in the category of Costume Design for her work on City Lit Theater’s Murder in the Cathedral.
The 2024 Non-Equity Jeff Awards honored excellence in Chicago’s non-Equity theatre during the 2024 theatre season, which ran from January 1 to December 31, 2024. The ceremony’s artistic director was Columbia College Chicago Theatre alum Adrian Abel Azevedo ’15, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s Theatre Directing program.
