Columbia College Chicago Theatre Alum Appears in ‘Winter Garden’ at Open Space Arts Aug. 8-18

Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department alum Tony DiPisa ’07, a graduate of the Musical Theatre program, is in the cast of the historical drama Winter Garden, running August 8 through 18 at Open Space Arts, located at 1411 W. Wilson in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood. For tickets, click here.

Presented by Tin Drum Theatre, the play focuses on the rivalries and political differences that can tear a family apart. In this case, it’s the Booth family – actor-brothers Edwin, Junius, and John Wilkes Booth, who appeared together at New York City’s Winter Garden Theatre in a production of Julius Caesar, Shakespeare’s tragedy about the horrific effects of a political assassination in ancient Rome, on November 25, 1864, shortly after the re-election of President Abraham Lincoln. Drawing historical parallels to today’s political divisions, Winter Garden is a turbulent exploration of brotherly love, sibling rivalry, and the fragile nature of legacy.
