Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department alumni and faculty talent is featured in Court Theatre’s new production of the classic dark comedy Arsenic and Old Lace, running September 2 through October 2.
Court’s production features Columbia College Theatre Department faculty member Celeste Williams as elderly Martha Brewster, who lives with her sister Abby and their nephew Teddy in a spacious Victorian home in a quiet Brooklyn neighborhood. But behind the Brewsters’ genteel facade – and their reputation for serving delicious elderberry wine – lurk some macabre secrets, including a penchant for murder that seems to run in the family.
Columbia College Theatre Department alum A.C. Smith ’86, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s BA Program in Theatre, co-stars as the Brewster sisters’ other nephew, Jonathan – a role played in the play’s original 1941 Broadway production by Boris Karloff.
Columbia College alum Victor Holstein ’04, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s BA Program in Acting, is an understudy. Former Columbia College Theatre Department faculty member Khalid Y. Long is the production dramaturg.
Court Theatre is located at 5535 S. Ellis in Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood. For tickets, click here.
