Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department alums Courtney Mack ’15 and Mallory Maedke ’14, both graduates of the Theatre Department’s BFA Program in Musical Theatre Performance, are cast members of the hit Broadway musical Six, now playing at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre in New York City. Six recounts the lives and legends of the six wives of medieval England’s King Henry VIII. In honor of Women’s History Month, Mack and Maedke are featured in a new Six-focused episode of Playbill: The Game Show, an online video series celebrating the Broadway theatre scene. As previously reported in this blog, Mack and Maedke have both been Six company members since the British show’s U.S. premiere at Chicago Shakespeare Theatre and its subsequent pre-Broadway North American tour. In the current Broadway production, Mack — winner of a Joseph Jefferson Award, Chicago’s top theatre award, for her lead performance in the Chicago premiere of Heathers: The Musical — is an alternate covering the roles of Anne Boleyn, Katherine Howard, and Catherine Parr, and Maedke is an alternate covering the roles of Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, and Katherine Howard. Maedke is also the Broadway show’s dance captain and assistant choreographer.
