Faculty and alumni of the Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department are bringing the hit musical Mamma Mia! to the stage of the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts in Skokie. The production will mark Music Theatre Works‘ first live full production since the onset of the pandemic in March 2020 — and its first production as a resident company of the North Shore Center, which is located at 9501 Skokie Blvd. in the northern Chicago suburb of Skokie. Running August 19 through 29, the show is directed by Theatre Department faculty member Justin Brill and choreographed by Theatre Department faculty member Shanna VanDerwerker.
The show’s cast includes Columbia College alums Rhys Bakulinski ’19, Rebecca Bradford ’12, and Ahmad K. Simmons ’20, all graduates of the Theatre Department’s BA Program in Musical Theatre, and Mollyanne Nunn ’14 and Joselle Reyes ’21, both graduates of the Theatre Department’s BFA Program in Musical Theatre Performance. Also in the cast is Oliver Schilling, a current student in the Musical Theater Performance BFA program.
