Columbia College Chicago Theatre Dept. Alums Featured in Metropolis’ ‘Avenue Q’ May 17-June 30

Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department alumni Alex Newkirk ’11, Emily Bailey ’15, and Aaron Lockman ’17 are featured in the musical Avenue Q at Metropolis Performing Arts Centre in the northwest Chicago suburb of Arlington Heights. Newkirk, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s BFA Program in Musical Theatre Performance, plays Princeton, a recent college graduate who moves into a low-rent neighborhood while trying to discover his purpose in life and also to find a job. Bailey, also a Musical Theatre Performance BFA program graduate, and Lockman, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s BA Program in Acting, play Christmas Eve and Nicky, two of Princeton’s neighbors. The show requires the actors to manipulate puppets as part of portraying their characters.

The show’s musical director is Columbia College alum Kailey Rockwell ’13, a graduate of the Columbia College Chicago Music Department‘s Bachelor of Music Program with a Concentration in Contemporary, Urban, and Popular Music.
