Columbia College Chicago Student and Alumni Talent Featured in Black Ensemble Theatre’s New Sammy Davis Jr. Musical Dec. 9-Jan. 21

Columbia College Chicago student Michael Adkins and alumnus Nathan Cooper ’13 are featured in the holiday musical Sammy: A Tribute to Sammy Davis Jr., running December 9-January 21 at the Black Ensemble Theatre, 4450 N. Clark, in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood.

Adkins, a sophomore in the Columbia College Chicago Business and Entrepreneurship Department‘s BA Program in Music Business Management, stars as singer/dancer/actor Sammy Davis Jr. in this biographical tribute to the legendary entertainer, which follows his career from its beginnings in vaudeville to his success in Las Vegas and Hollywood. Cooper, a graduate of the Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department‘s BFA Program in Musical Theatre Performance, plays singer/actor Frank Sinatra, Davis’ friend and leader of the Vegas “Rat Pack” to which Davis belonged. The show’s musical director is drummer/bandleader/arranger Robert Reddrick, a former Columbia College Chicago Music Department student.
