The Portrait, a one-person play by Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department associate professor Susan Padveen, will be performed Saturday, October 21, at the Judith Racht Gallery in Harbert, Michigan. Produced by The Neapolitans theatre company, The Portrait stars Matt Maxwell as Gustav Klimt, the renowned painter of The Kiss, as he wrestles with a life-altering decision while also attempting to secure a sizable commission from a woman of Viennese society. The performance will start at 7:30 p.m. The Judith Racht Gallery is located at 13689 Prairie Road, Harbert, Michigan.
Written and directed by Susan Padveen, The Portrait features scenic design by Theatre Department Associate Chair Jacqueline Penrod; costume design by Columbia College alum Alaina Moore ’13, a graduate of Columbia’s art and design program; and props design by Devon Green, a student in the Theatre Department’s BA Program in Theatre Design.
