Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department alum Alicia Watley ’16, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s BA Program in Acting, and student Jelani Smith, a senior in the Acting BA program, are featured in By the Apricot Trees, running February 24-April 2 at ETA Creative Arts Foundation, 7558 S. South Chicago Ave., on Chicago’s south side. The drama, by Ntsako Mkhabela, is based on the true story of the experience of the playwright’s mother in solitary confinement in prison during the 1976 Soweto Uprising in apartheid-era South Africa.
