Columbia College Chicago Alumni and Student Talent Drive New Musical ‘Black Vs. All’ Feb. 9-25

Mondisa Monde Productions, a company founded and led by Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department alum Ashley Mondisa ’14, presents Black Vs. All, a new a cappella musical inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement. The production’s cast and creative team includes several Columbia College Theatre and Music Department students.

Mondisa, a graduate of the Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department’s Musical Theatre BA program, is the show’s writer, director, producer, and musical arranger.

Columbia student Christopher Titus, a senior in the Theatre Department’s Acting BA program, is the choreographer and a member of the ensemble.

The cast also includes current Columbia students Leland Stanford (an Acting BA senior), Nia Nicole (a Musical Theatre student), and Jazmyne Fountain (a senior in the Columbia College Chicago Music Department‘s Contemporary Urban and Popular Music BMus program).

In the show, a young black man watches each period in time and the black issues that have occurred through history and continue to occur in the present moment. The show addresses such issues as colorism, black family, and black love, using popular songs with original arrangements, dancing, and a heart-tugging story.
