Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department Alums Bring New Chekhov Adaptation to Rasaka Theatre Jan. 5-Feb. 3

Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department alumnus Kaiser Ahmed ’08, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s Theatre Directing program, is directing the world premiere of Vanya (or, “That’s Life!”), a multicultural reinvention of Uncle Vanya, Anton Chekhov’s classic seriocomic study of family life. Presented by Rasaka Theatre, Chicago’s only South Asian theatre ensemble, the show runs January 5-February 3 at the Edge Theatre, 5451 N. Broadway, in Chicago’s Edgewater neighborhood.

Director Kaiser Ahmed, born in Bangladesh and raised in Michigan, is also co-founder and associate artistic director of Jackalope Theatre Company as well as an Artistic Associate at The Artistic Home Theatre.
