Writer-director Cassie Ahiers (BA ’13), a graduate of the Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department‘s theatre directing program, will unveil a new musical she has co-authored, The Mountain Digby, on Thursday, April 7, at MCL Chicago Comedy Theater, 3110 N. Sheffield in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood. The show, directed by Ahiers, runs Thursdays through April 21 at 10 PM. It features music by alumnus Brad Kemp (BMus ’12), a graduate of the Columbia College Chicago Music Department‘s Bachelor of Music in Composition program.

Cassie Ahiers

Ahiers, a staffer in the Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department’s Comedy Writing and Performing BA program, co-wrote the show with Kemp and Anthony Lombard. Part morbid fable, part doomed love story, the one-act musical comedy follows the Digby brothers as they attempt to uphold their family’s honor by turning a hill into a mountain — no matter the cost.

Ahiers is also a graduate of the Directing Program at The Second City, Chicago’s internationally acclaimed comedy theatre and training center. She teaches in the Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department’s summer arts camp theatre program for high school students.
