Columbia College Chicago alumna Joanie Schultz (BA ’00), a graduate of the Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department‘s directing program, is directing two world premieres at noted Chicago theatres this winter.
First up is Bruise Easy, running January 8-February 14 at the American Theatre Company. Written by Dan LeFranc, Bruise Easy concerns two estranged siblings who reunite at their childhood home for the conversation of a lifetime.

Following Bruise Easy, Schultz will direct the world premiere of Cocked, by Sarah Gubbins, at Victory Gardens Theatre, where Schultz is Associate Artistic Producer. Cocked is a thriller about a lesbian attorney in Chicago’s Andersonville neighborhood whose relationship with a journalist is shattered when her troubled brother crashes into the two women’s lives. The play runs February 12-March 13.
