Alex Newkirk, a graduate of Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department‘s BFA Program in Musical Theatre Performance, is musical director for the FWD Theatre Project’s new show Swift as Desire on Monday, May 11, at 7:30 PM at City Winery, 1200 W. Randolph. Written by New Yorkers Arthur Perlman and Jeff Lunden (whose musical Wings won acclaim in its 1992 production at Goodman Theatre), it’s based on a novel by Laura Esquivel (Like Water for Chocolate). It’s the story of a telegraph operator who has the power to feel other people’s thoughts. This one-night concert reading is and directed by Chicago director Henry Godinez. For tickets, click here.
